Electrical Current An electrical current is a flow of electric charge. (usually it is a flow of electrons) You could think of an ammeter as something that counts the number of electrons that go by every second. In a series circuit, the current is the same everywhere. In a parallel circuit, the total current flowing into a junction equals the total current flowing out of the junction.
